Halim Ramses invited 18 artists to be present in the same place,
surrounded by four automated cameras programmed to photograph at random times.
Every participant received the flow of the day prior to the performance and there was no intention for surprises nor unexpectancy,
Everyone headed to perform their roles before the cameras.
Through the mediums of participatory performance and photography,
Halim tries to capture different characteristics of the art scene in Egypt such as the limited audience,
the absence of contextualization and historicization and the precarious nature of the scene.
The project is a co-creation of a moment existing outside the formal art history of Egypt,
that invites for revisitation and processing.
The tendency of a part to represent the whole could be a characteristic of the art scene in Cairo
where a small assembly of 20 artists could be seen
as a representation of the whole scene.
The project explores the aesthetics of thousands of photographs of artists gatherings produced by art institutions and photos of socially engaged and participatory practices that involve the audience.
